revisiting puberty... again
IMO, the hormones produced during pregnancy rival those that one has at puberty. i'm sure you'll remember my rants last pregnancy about having bad skin. facial after facial, i had tons of blackheads extracted, plus very sensitive skin to make it more difficult to use blackhead preventing products.
this pregnancy, my skin is going through the same changes as before, although i have to admit it isn't nearly as obvious. last time i had blemish after blemish, sometimes even several at a time. this time, my blemishes are small and probably no one but me notices them. i still have those horrible blackheads, though.
well i had a facial about 3 weeks ago at bodylase in raleigh. i had a different person this time, i think her name was jill (she was also great, by the way). she didn't mention my sensitive skin this time, she more focused on the fact my skin was horribly dry (which i was unaware of). so instead of the classic facial, i had the vitaman C facial. i loved it, i could tell my skin was more moisturized before i even got in my car to leave. so its been 3 weeks now, and usually within 1 to 2 weeks after a facial, i would have already broken out from all the skin agitation. but this time, i haven't. and i've been using the soap and lotion from their office (expensive but WORTH it).
now i've been using the same skin care products (i.e., dial soap and facial lotion) since i was about 20 years old. and, i always thought they worked just fine. well, she sold me on their facial cleanser (for sensitive skin) and their vitamin C enriched facial moisturizer. and i've been using those since the facial.. except when we went camping. and that day my skin was horribly greasy and now i have 2 blemishes from it!
anyway, while she was doing the extractions, i asked her what tool she was using. she showed it to me and told me that you can buy it at sephora... so i went and got one! i know this is probably gross to some people, but the fact is is that most of us DO have blackheads... and no way to get rid of them! this tool is wonderful... no germs, you can sterilize it, plus you don't press and push and scratch your face with your own finger/nails. i've been using it pretty regularly for the past week (mainly on my chin) and i can tell you that EVERY woman (maybe men too) needs one!
just so you know where to get it... there is a sephora at crabtree mall, it is on the lower level! and it costs $16!
