Modern Family

For the past couple of years, Nathaniel and I have been watching the TV show "Modern Family."

Back when it aired, my favorite shows were The Office and Big Bang Theory.  The Office then switched to a time that I couldn't catch, and this year the same happened to Big Bang.  However, Modern Family comes on at just the right time for me - Wednesdays at 9.  We watch it every week.  It is the kind of humor that doesn't make you laugh until your stomach hurt, it more makes you hold your breath... (you have to watch it to know what i'm talking about).

Last night's episode, I think, is the funniest one I've seen yet.  On our way home today, Nathaniel and I started discussing who our favorite characters were on the show.  My favorite ones are two men (that are the couple).  I was telling Nathaniel that he reminded me of a blend of those two men, which is maybe why they are my favorite.  I also think they always have the best (i.e. funniest/most uncomfortable/best banter) story lines.  Nathaniel thought that his favorite character was Phil.

So, I'm wondering - do YOU watch Modern Family?  Do you have favorite characters?  Who are they - and why?

There is a road that meets the road that goes to my house and how the green grows there.  We've got special boots to beat the path to my house.  Your uncle was a crooked french canadian and he was gut-shot running gin.  His guts were all suspended in his fingers and he held 'em in. This is the story of the road that goes to my house and what ghosts there do remain and all the troughs that run the length and breadth of my house and the chickens how they rattle chicken chains.   We'll remember this when we are old and ancient though the specifics might be vague and I'll say your camisole was a sprightly light magenta when in fact it was a nappy bluish grey. The water rolls down the drain.  O, what a lonely thing in a lonely drain.  July - It never seemed so strange.

this week is the decemberists week on seriusxmu (the station i listen to on satellite radio) and this is by far my favorite of their songs. it has such a catchy tune.  i mean, these guys have to be some of the most creative musicians out there right now - this is just ONE example of the lyrics they come up with!  they are so original. and so random!  :)  i just love them!

Thanks for your support!  Personally, I can't wait to see my sparkler picture used in Shutterfly's advertising!  I suppose that is what keeps bringing me back to keep on entering contests!  Plus these pictures are so good (I think, anyway...)

i heart faces - smiles challenge

this week's i heart faces challenge category is "smiles," and here is my entry for this week's contest.  this is my nephew and even if i was the photographer, i have to say that this is the cutest picture i've ever seen of him.  he is an adorable little guy and this picture really captures his spunk.  and when i say spunk, i really mean punk. (when he grows up, he's gonna be a totally rad professional skater dude.)

resolution, in photo

this week's photo challenge at paper mama is resolutions.  since i'm not a resolution maker, i've been trying to decide on whether to even enter this challenge.  but, yesterday nathaniel and i were lucky enough to have been invited to an eagle scout ceremony of one of our friends (who is also our neighbor).  i shot photos from our third row seat during the ceremony and got this really neat shot of his little brother during the pledge of allegiance.

it occurred to me that one resolution i'd be happy to make is, over the course of 2011, to teach my children that same pledge.  i don't think they've ever even heard it!  and, it's about time they do.  i mean, really, they know the barney i love you song but not one single america song or poem!  bad parent.  that will change!
